It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, but just like most of us retired folks, life is busier than ever. Having not written for some time, a few folks actually contacted me to make sure I was O.K. I’m fine and I hope everyone taking the time to read this is happy and well.

I know this is a vanity blog, but I thought I would take this opportunity to explain what’s been going on. With such a busy and emotional year last year, I think my wife Trisha and I “jumped the shark” this year. After our whirlwind trip to Australia just after the New Year, we recently completed an incredible and somewhat exhausting nearly month-long adventure touring through the scenic and historic countries of France and Spain. With all the exercise we got walking and climbing the sometimes hilly pathways of our adventure, our waistlines actually got a bit smaller. Unfortunately, the trip took the worst toll on our wallets. It looks like it will be a lot of macaroni and cheese for the rest of this year.

Returning home, we headed to southern California for the high school graduation of our oldest granddaughter. She’s smart, beautiful, and headed to college. What a wonderful time of life. We also got to watch one of our grandsons play baseball on his allstar team. How can this be? Wasn’t I just playing baseball? Wasn’t I just coaching our sons in baseball? Where do the years go? As much as I enjoyed those years, I’m not bitter about getting older and can’t stop smiling after the recent visits of all three sons and their families. Grandkids are the best and we are truly blessed.

In addition to all the family stuff, I’ve been teaching college-prep workshops. It’s a lot of work, but I really enjoy the students and it’s actually fun to be back in the classroom.

So, in a nutshell, that’s why I haven’t written for a while. I do appreciate the inquiries and it makes me feel good to know people actually read my blog and were concerned. I promise to come up with some new and hopefully interesting material in the near future. For now, let me just share a few photos I’ve taken over the last few months. To be honest, as you can see, jumping the shark wasn’t really that bad at all.

Here we are about to board the high speed Eurostar in London headed for Paris.

Here are a few pictures of Trisha in Paris. (For regular readers, you may know I refer to her as “sexy” Trisha Parker after we found her listed that way on Google. I think they’re right)

The Palace of Versailles was extraordinary.

Trisha found this wonderful farmhouse we had all to ourselves for a few days in the south of France. We even had our own pool. I’m going to write more about this place in a future blog because it was one of the best finds we’ve ever made on any of our trips.
